A man was asked to leave a Citgo gas station on the city’s south side after he apparently didn’t have money to pay for the food he was carrying. After he left the cashier’s area, he attempted to ignite a gas pump with a lighter, according to Milwaukee police.

Police said there was a minimal amount of fire, if any, and no one was injured during the man’s attempt about 7 p.m. at the station, 1225 W. Lincoln Ave.
