Gingrich endorses Jindal as VP

June 18, 2008

Story here. I am a big fan of Bobby Jindal, and think he could help McCain gain some credibility with the Conservative base, along with setting himself up quite well for a presidential run himself.

Quote of the day - Fiscal Conservative Edition

May 31, 2008

“Alongside my announcement last week that I will veto any budgetary earmarks that do not meet specific criteria, spending only recurring dollars on recurring expenditures is a great step forward to reforming our budget. Just because the money is there does not mean we have to spend it immediately – there is much to be said for planning for the future, a sentiment that our state has forgotten far too often.” - Bobbie Jindal

Good for him. We need more politicians willing to fight earmarks and fiscal irresponsibility.

Gun Bloggers for Jindal

May 19, 2008

I have talked about Bobby Jindal a couple of times, saying he has the makings of a great president, and now both Snowflakes in Hell and Uncle are looking at him, too. I am cautiously optimistic, but if Jindal is the real deal, and he appears to be, he has the potential to be one of our greatest presidents.

Refreshing talk about government spending

May 16, 2008

Bobby Jindal, the Louisiana governor, had this to say in his blog:

Just as I said during the campaign, we have to stop the out-of-control spending of taxpayer money in Baton Rouge. In the past, our state has too often jumped into an unbridled spending spree in the wake of budget surpluses and then quickly ended up in debt…and without much to show for it. In order for us to continue to move toward a New Louisiana, we must eliminate wasteful spending that does not address our state’s priorities. This means that if a project is not openly addressed during the legislative session, it doesn’t meet an identified state priority, and it isn’t fully disclosed so everyone knows its origin and purpose, I will veto it.

Make sure there is a purpose for spending that fits into a  set of priorities? When is the last time you heard that from a government official? Jindal is working to prove what many of us have know for a long time: less government spending, lower taxes, and building an ethical culture will help attract businesses and people, and makes for a better standard of living.

Interview with Bobby Jindal

May 1, 2008

Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal was interviewed on Jay Leno earlier this week.

Here is an example of what I was talking about, getting behind candidates early on. While the governors office is well along in the process, I believe that Bobby Jindal is a person that has a lot of potential for a presidential bid. I will be watching his career, and supporting him in any way I can, even if it is just some blogging about him and telling friends.

Jindal’s comments about how blessed he and his wife are appear in stark contrast to Michelle Obama not being proud of her country until now. Throughout the interview, you can see that Jindal gets it on many levels, and from what I have seen and heard from and about him, he has the potential to make a great president.

Hat tip Michelle Malkin. I agree that he looked “comfortable, charming, and authentic,” however, I disagree with her on the Indian accent part, Leno did it to be funny, not truly disrespectful, Jindal laughed at it, and Leno does that sort of thing to people of all political persuasions. And heaven help us if we can’t laugh at ourselves, at that point we might as well be liberals!
