Held:

1. The Second Amendment protects an individual right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a militia, and to use that arm for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home. – SCOTUS opinion in D.C. v. Heller

When it came down to it, we needed the court to say 2A was an individual right, and the the D.C. gun bans violated that right. We got both. Yes, there is more that we need in the long run, but we got what we needed from this case.
