Phone banking
I didn’t blog about the last time I went out to work the phone bank, partly because it would be repetitive, and partly to not brag. But I am bringing it up again. Because EVERYONE needs to get out and put some time in, and maybe I can guilt trip someone into volunteering.
I know a lot of people aren’t real excited about about McCain, but we need to do everything we can to keep the most anti gun, socialist candidate in recent history, maybe in American history, out of the White House.
McCain isn’t my ideal Conservative candidate, either. Guess what: you aren’t going to agree with everything about a politician. In fact, there is only one person in the world I agree with on every issue. Myself. And some days I’m not completely sure about that.
I never got involved directly with a campaign before this year, but you can bet I will be doing more in the future. People say that if you don’t vote, you have no right to complain. Voting is really only the barest minimum. Get involved. Work some campaigns. Call politicians, and let them know how you feel.
So thank you to everyone who has spent some of their time volunteering, and if you haven’t, get out and spend some time (even if you have, more won’t hurt.) It’s a good chance to hang out with some other people who share your values, and you might even have some fun.
My fun story of the night: calling a house of registered Democrats who were voting McCain. It just warms my heart.
And, I might go shooting with the phone bank coordinator (after the election). He’s from New Jersey, and says he will be voting in WI, having lived here long enough, and is looking forward to having his vote actually count.
Nice to know your efforts are actually worth something. I live in California, and from I’ve heard, the CA GOP has pretty much given up on the state. I’m a volunteer, too, but the local headquarters is so disorganized. They still haven’t put their phone banks in and we haven’t started calling anyone.
I can understand why they’re not putting in any resources in CA since there are swing states that really count, but I thought the state GOP would at least put up a semblance of a fight. Instead, we’re not even showing up at the match and just conceding it to the opponent. This is probably the real reason CA is so liberal.
I’m still volunteering and manning the headquarters, but I’m starting to wonder if my time is better spent somewhere else.
Not good to hear. While it my make sense on a notional level, the GOP still needs to fight in states like CA.
As to the phone bank, if you go to johnmccain.com, they have a thing where you can call from your own phone, they give you the call list and script.
