How raising taxes on companies “that ship jobs overseas” is going to help anything? Sounds like a good reason to just ship the headquarters overseas, too.
Lame
October 15, 2008For the ultimate in heavy hitting issue ads, Obama is running an ad aiming at a comment McCain made that he would “hate to live in Milwaukee.”
Personally, I like living in Milwaukee, and would hate to live in Arizona, not being a fan of heat. But for someone in Arizona, I can see why they would hate the winter. And the politics. For what it’s worth, I am also not a fan of hurricanes or earthquakes, which counts out several other very desirable locations.
So, if McCain wouldn’t want to live in Milwaukee, that is his perogative. WHO CARES?
On the other hand, the fact that Obama is running an ad like this in Milwaukee indicates that he either has a lot of extra money, or the 17 point lead a recent poll showed in WI is very inflated, and he knows it.
On that poll, I can almost guarantee that there is no way Obama is going to win by 17 points. 3 would be a blowout.
Does this look “rehabilitated” to you?
October 13, 2008I am not going to post this picture on my blog, but does this look like a man that was “rehabilitated,” as Barack [redacted] Obama claims that he assumed he was?

October 13, 2008WSJ weighs in on the 95% claim
October 13, 2008One of Barack Obama’s most potent campaign claims is that he’ll cut taxes for no less than 95% of “working families.” He’s even promising to cut taxes enough that the government’s tax share of GDP will be no more than 18.2% — which is lower than it is today.
It’s a clever pitch, because it lets him pose as a middle-class tax cutter while disguising that he’s also proposing one of the largest tax increases ever on the other 5%. But how does he conjure this miracle, especially since more than a third of all Americans already pay no income taxes at all? There are several sleights of hand, but the most creative is to redefine the meaning of “tax cut.”
For the Obama Democrats, a tax cut is no longer letting you keep more of what you earn. In their lexicon, a tax cut includes tens of billions of dollars in government handouts that are disguised by the phrase “tax credit.” Mr. Obama is proposing to create or expand no fewer than seven such credits for individuals
…
There’s another catch: Because Mr. Obama’s tax credits are phased out as incomes rise, they impose a huge “marginal” tax rate increase on low-income workers. The marginal tax rate refers to the rate on the next dollar of income earned. As the nearby chart illustrates, the marginal rate for millions of low- and middle-income workers would spike as they earn more income.

So Obama has managed to claim that socialist welfare programs are “tax cuts,” and the claim has not been seriously refuted by the McCain campaign.
It is good to see a major news source run a story like this, though.
Quote of the Day – Phone Banks Edition
October 10, 2008So there you have the tale of two phone bank experiences. McCain, where we politely ask the questions, thank you for your time, and move on. Then there’s the Obama plan which involves sending a shrill woman to yell at you any time you disagree. It’s like your very own Michelle Obama to call you every night. – Bitter

At any cost
October 8, 2008Looks like the Obama campaign misapropriated an NSSF mailing list. Sebastian has more, including possible criminal ramifications. While it would probably be a staffer or two, rather than the Obamasiah, that took the fall if it came to it, there are still questions about Rezko and others, which could lead to criminal prosecution. While the likelihood of that happening is pretty much zilch, if it did happen, it could leave us with a Biden presidency. Not good.
What needs to be said
October 7, 2008Obama’s latest stem cell research ad is not just “misleading” “Out of bounds” “Manhandling the truth” or “Wrong.” It is a lie. Pure and simple, a lie. The ad claims that both Governor Palin and the Republican platform oppose all stem cell research. Not only is that a lie, it is pretty easy to check.
While what politicians say is a little fluid and hard to nail down, the platform is pretty clear. By way of gop.com:
Taxpayer-funded medical research must be based on sound science, with a focus on both prevention and treatment, and in accordance with the humane ethics of the Hippocratic Oath. In that regard, we call for a major expansion of support for the stem-cell research that now shows amazing promise and offers the greatest hope for scores of diseases – with adult stem cells, umbilical cord blood, and cells reprogrammed into pluripotent stem cells – without the destruction of embryonic human life. We call for a ban on human cloning and for a ban on the creation of or experimentation on human embryos for research purposes.
So, we do have a call to ban embryonic stem cell research, but a call for increased funding of adult stem cell research, which, incidentally, is the kind that is producing actual cures.
Palin has also supported research using adult stem cells.
Saying Palin and the Republican platform is against all stem cell research is beyond misleading, it is a lie. And someone approved running the ad with the lies. Someone approved blatantly lying to the American people.
He identified himself as Barack Obama.
It needs to be said is that he’s lying.
Quote of the Day – Homeschool Edition
October 7, 2008…here’s where it gets so infuriating that you want to start homeschooling not only your kids, but random neighborhood kids as well – Cam Edwards
Somehow the idea of activist homeschooling ammuses to me. Maybe it has to do with my home school years…
