WI Attorney General JB Van Hollen filed a lawsuit last week to try to crack down at least a little on vote fraud. Says the Madison based Capitol Times:

Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen, a Republican, filed the lawsuit Monday in Dane County Circuit Court to get ineligible voters off the rolls. It calls for a court order mandating the Government Accountability Board to cross-check voters who have registered since Jan. 1, 2006, when federal Help America Vote Act legislation required that states implement a voter database to cross-check voter registrations with Department of Transportation, criminal and death records.

There have been reports of voter fraud in WI, and with over 7000 known questionable votes in an election decided by just over 11,000 votes, voter fraud could easily swing the election. It is good to see that the state is taking some action to prevent that.

As usual, there is the normal crying about disenfranchising voters:

“It will disenfranchise voters. That’s what we’re concerned about,” City Clerk Maribeth Witzel-Behl said.

Guess what? EVERY FRAUDULENT VOTE CAST DISENFRANCHISES A LEGITIMATE VOTE. The few people that may be disenfranchised by this, or photo ID, pale in comparison to the thousands of voters disenfranchised by vote fraud.

And, don’t forget the community organizers filling out fraudulent voter registrations.
