Thoughs on my 401(k)
Sebastian points to some good advice on your 401(k): Don’t look.
Actually, I am looking on the bright side. With my retirement several decades away, I am pretty happy scooping up shares at bargain prices. Maybe not much comfort for those who are looking to retire in the next few years, I suppose, but remember that some people benefit whatever the ecconomy is doing.
Yup, I’m with you.
Most of the market is fundamentally sound. Unless your funds are heavily leveraged in the troubled sections of the economy (sub prime mortgage market, etc) there is no reason to believe that the values won’t recover eventually. It may take some time, but retirement accounts are a long-term investment.
As far as I’m concerned, there’s a fire-sale going on: buy, buy, buy.
I must say that I have empathy for those who were hoping to retire soon though. They just got soaked.
