From a Club for Growth poll:

Q: Would you agree or disagree with the following statement? “The Republicans used to be the party of economic growth, fiscal discipline, and limited government, but in recent years, too many Republicans in Washington have become just like the big spenders that they used to oppose.”

• Agree: 80.6%
• Disagree: 13.0%
• DK/Refused: 6.4%

It has come up time and again, the Republicans in Washington have moved too far left. As much as anything else, the last 2 elections (2006 & 2008) are a repudiation of that. If we want liberals, there are plenty of Democrats, and people who want liberal policy will probably vote for them, anyways. I don’t, and there are a lot of others who don’t, either. When the options are bad and worse, it is WAY too easy for people to sit out elections.
