Ya know what strikes me in all this reaction to Palin? This is the first time in my 46 years that I’ve seen a candidate for POTUS or VPOTUS that actually looks like a real human being. All of the others all had the aura of a veiled aristocracy.  – Comment at The Volokh Conspiracy.

Sarah Palin personifies the claim that anyone can grow up to be president. This might frighten the elites on the coasts, but should be an encouragement to all of us in between. She has worked hard, going from PTA to City Council to Mayor to Governor to VP candidate. It is an inspiring story, whether or not you like her politics. And along the way, she has stayed a “real human being,” like getting rid of the Governor’s chef and cooking her own meals.
