Sadly for us, Sarah Palin’s are few and far between. Even if you hate her politics, you’ve got to admire the fact that she came along and tossed a good-old-boys network onto their frozen a****s, to be stranded in the permafrost and eaten by wolves.

WASHINGTON (CNN) — Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin will make multiple campaign appearances on behalf of Sen. Saxby Chambliss next week in Georgia, serving as the political closer for the GOP senator who is battling to win a second term.
This is Palin’s first campaign appearance on behalf of another Republican candidate since losing her bid to become the nation’s first woman to serve as vice president.
I might be getting ahead of things here, but this is the kind of stuff you do prepping for a presidential run. If Palin wants to run in 2012, she needs to get her name and her face out there in the next several years, and the Georgia runoff is a great place to start.

Oh yeah, pretty clearly Sarah Palin is a rube who doesn’t know how to handle a gun. Only LA Times reporters know that. I’ll tell you, I’d feel a lot safer on a trap field with Sarah Palin than an LA Times reporter. – Sebastian

Our opponent, though, is someone who sees America, it seems, as being so imperfect, imperfect enough that he’s palling around with terrorists who would target their own country – Gov. Sarah Palin
Before Sen. Obama’s campaign goes after the statement as “shameless” and “offensive” they might want to ask why he has been palling around with an unrepentant terrorist. Bill Ayers WAS invloved in bombings, and since he and Obama started palling around has said they didn’t do enough in those days. Even if he didn’t mean more bombings, he certainly hasn’t renounced those actions.

No long post on this one, but I think Sarah Palin made it clear she is the real deal.
I would say Sarah won, again, close.
She got a lot of good digs in, which was good to see.
Overall, she did very well, and showed that she was ready for prime time. And no matter who the pundits say won the debate, that was a win for her.

Many political ads are misleading, and some are downright lies, but few so blatant as this one, which I heard on the way in to work this morning:
Jody Montgomery – My name is Jody Montgomery and my daughter Maddy was diagnosed with Type I Juvenile Diabetes at age 3. Six times a day, I take her blood. Six times a day, I pray for a cure. Researchers are working hard to do just that. Our best hope is stem cell research, and that’s why we support Barack Obama.
Announcer – Stem cell research could unlock cures for diabetes, cancer and Alzheimer’s too. But John McCain has stood in the way…he’s opposed stem cell research. Picked a running mate who’s against it…And he’s running on a platform even more extreme than George Bush‘s on this vital research. John McCain doesn’t understand that medical research benefiting millions shouldn’t be held hostage by the political views of a few.
Jody Montgomery – For Maddy and millions of others, stem cell research can unlock cures. Barack Obama understands that. But John McCain just doesn’t.
First, most Conservatives do not oppose stem cell researce per se, but embrionic stem cell research, and especially the creation of new embreos for the research. But the fact is that this is not the only type of stem cell research, and is actually the least effective so far in finding cures. Moreover, the fact is that John McCain has supported stem cell research, including embryonic stem cell research that used embreos created for fertility treatment. Furthermore, while Sarah Palin opposes embryonic stem cell research, she supports adult stem cell research.
This ad is a blatant lie by the Obama campaign (this is an official campaign ad, not a third party,) and he had to know it when he approved the ad. This ad is another example of the victory at any cost tactics employed by the Obama campaign.

When I saw the headline “Chevy Chase Wants Tina Fey to ‘Decimate’ Sarah Palin” the first thing I though of was Roberta X saying “Every tenth person who misuses “decimate” should be taken out and shot.“

“If she can do it, this is something I can do” – A participant in the “Becoming an outdoorswoman” program, on the effect that Sarah Palin has had on the increased attendance at hunting and firearms programs.
As Sebastian pointed out, “The stereotypical soccer mom is the gun control key demographic.” As more of them begin to say “Hey, I can do this too,” and begin to understand and enjoy hunting, shooting sports, and gun ownership, the Bradys and their friends lose key supporters.

Ya know what strikes me in all this reaction to Palin? This is the first time in my 46 years that I’ve seen a candidate for POTUS or VPOTUS that actually looks like a real human being. All of the others all had the aura of a veiled aristocracy. - Comment at The Volokh Conspiracy.
Sarah Palin personifies the claim that anyone can grow up to be president. This might frighten the elites on the coasts, but should be an encouragement to all of us in between. She has worked hard, going from PTA to City Council to Mayor to Governor to VP candidate. It is an inspiring story, whether or not you like her politics. And along the way, she has stayed a “real human being,” like getting rid of the Governor’s chef and cooking her own meals.
