While a lot of attention is focused on American rights here, self defense, and the tools of self defense, are a human right, that has been violated by many governments, including a disturbing number of “free” countries. We should be concerned about the rights of all people, not only because it is the right thing to do, but also because the tides of world politics lap at our shores, and we may not always have people like John Bolton telling the U.N. to pound sand, we are not giving up our rights. Encouraging gun ownership wherever we can will lead to a better understanding of guns and the people that own them, and, at least in some cases, to increased governmental recognition of our rights.
