Some interesting Supreme Court stats

SCOTUSBlog has an interesting stat sheet about the breakdown of this term’s decisions (so far). For all the 5-4 decisions we have heard about, they only make up about 10% of this year’s decisions. In fact, there are more unanimous decisions than any others (39%.) These stats actually make me feel a lot better about the court. A unanimous decision would seem to be based more on good jurisprudence than politics, with politics playing a greater roll in a 5-4 decision.
